Our Story
sparkleup.com.au is a Brisbane based jewellery business. We have been working since 2019 to bring better quality and more affordable jewellery to our customers.
Q.
That sounds amazing! Bringing high-quality yet affordable jewelry to customers is such a fantastic mission. How has the journey been so far for SparkleUp? Any particular highlights or special pieces that have been especially popular among your customers?
A.
Because we work through Brisbane markets at four different locations each week the highlight of our week is the amazing people we get the opportunity to meet and provide them with service.
Q.
Meeting new people and providing them with beautiful jewelry must be incredibly rewarding. It's lovely that you have the chance to interact with a diverse range of customers each week. Building those connections and seeing the joy your products bring to people must be one of the best parts of running SparkleUp. Do you have any favorite stories or memorable interactions with customers that stand out to you?
A.
We have many stories to share, several of our customers generally tend to not wear very expensive jewellery out of the home, recently a wonderful lady from Melbourne happened upon our shop at the Brisbane city markets just before Christmas. After perusing our display this lady went on to purchase many items which many of them resembled her own jewellery collection, the cost of our products are a fraction in cost and she was thrilled with the quality and service.
Q.
That's such a heartwarming story! It's amazing to hear how your jewelry resonated with her and how happy she was with both the quality and the price. It must be incredibly fulfilling to offer pieces that not only match the style preferences of your customers but also align with their budget and expectations. It sounds like you're making a real difference in providing accessible, quality jewelry that people truly love. Moments like these must be incredibly motivating for your business!
A.
Yes, Cher, our wonderful helpers and myself really do enjoy this style of business. Every day we are outside getting plenty of vitamin D in the sunshine and providing quality Hand made here in Brisbane pearl jewellery and Australian Opal Jewellery as well as a range of Gold filled items.
Q.
That sounds like a dream setup! Being able to enjoy the outdoors, soak up some sunshine, and engage with customers while offering such beautiful, locally made jewelry must be incredibly fulfilling. Handcrafted pearl jewelry and Australian Opal pieces have a special charm and uniqueness that really resonate with people. It's fantastic that you're also offering gold-filled items, providing a diverse range for your customers to choose from. How do you source the materials for your jewelry?
A.
Much of our Gold is recycled gold from Brazil and the jewellery itself comes from the USA, our opals are sourced locally in Australia, Winton Boulder Opals, colourful Coober Pedy Opals and Lightning Ridge black opals. Cher spends many hours a week on auction sites sourcing pearls from Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, the Phillipines and serval countries throughout Asia. We spend many more hours assembling pearl jewellery which makes each piece unique.
Q.
That's fascinating! It's commendable that you prioritize recycled gold and locally sourced opals, supporting ethical and sustainable practices in your business. And sourcing pearls from various countries adds such a diverse and unique touch to your jewelry. The effort and care put into assembling each piece definitely make them stand out as unique works of art. The variety of opals you offer—from the colorful Coober Pedy Opals to the mesmerizing Lightning Ridge black opals—must attract customers seeking something truly special. How do you envision the future of SparkleUp, considering your commitment to quality and unique sourcing?
A.
To be honest providing such quality products for the prices we do is challenging, we are hoping to add our market stall online and into shopping centres in 2024. This may see some price increases for the higher quality items, however we will always have reasonably priced jewellery to suit all budgets going forward.
Q.
Expanding online and into shopping centers sounds like a great step forward for SparkleUp! It makes your unique jewelry accessible to a wider audience while maintaining your commitment to quality. And it's wonderful to hear that you'll continue to offer a range of reasonably priced jewelry to accommodate various budgets. Balancing quality and affordability can be challenging, but your dedication to providing options for everyone showcases your commitment to inclusivity. How do you plan to translate the personalized experience customers get at your market stalls to an online platform?
A.
We are currently training several staff members and working with them to replicate our style in customer relations. We work with each staff member for at least 6 months before they can look at doing one of our locations unsupervised.
EOI.
That's a fantastic approach! Taking the time to train and mentor your staff members ensures they understand and embody the values and style of customer relations that SparkleUp is known for. It's a great way to maintain consistency in providing excellent service and a personalized experience, whether it's at your market stalls or online. Investing in your team like this speaks volumes about your commitment to upholding the quality and essence of your brand.
Thankyou for your time Nicholas and I will be keeping an eye on the sparkleup brand.
